The 'Ancient Bee Art ' T-shirt from Corwin BellI have always been fascinated by the unique relationship man has had with bees throughout history. During some research I came across this cave painting that was found in La Arana cave in eastern Spain. It is one of the oldest depictions found, dating back 9000 B.C. It depicts a woman collecting honey from a hive high in a tree or cliff. I really like the energy and the simplicity of this cave art and how the art seems to still buzz and vibrate with the same intensity that the original artist had intended some 11,000 years ago.The art still seems to retain what the artist experienced so long ago. The Sun filters down in rays form the flickering canopy of trees above, My muscles ache from the strenuous climb up the towering tree. I can smell the deep forest and as I reach the enormous hive, the sent of new brood, like fresh bread fills the air. The sound of the agitated bees swirl around my head as I try to make out the calls of eager honey hunters on the forest floor below. I feel the hot stings of the bees, the burning of sweat in my eyes, and the warm honey, it running down my arms. It is all worth it. I taste the sweet honey form the wild Spanish hillsides and fill my bags with nectar. I decided to recreate this art and the experience on this T-shirt,
